STRANDBEEST
This piece was originally written together with Richard Veenstra (electronic composer) for the E-live concert, organized by the Utrecht Graduate School of Music. It was performed in the Nicolai Church in Utrecht, that is known for its wonderful acoustics. It was also performed in "Het Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ" in Amsterdam.
The composers were inspired by the kinetic art made by Theo Jansen. The composition is mainly about interaction between the musicians and the electronics. The electronic parts of the piece are recordings of the three instruments separatly, sometimes in addition to the acoustic sounds and sometimes as a support for the instrumentalists.
Both times the piece was performed by: Iren Topouria (violin), Liesbeth Vreeburg (harp), Ana Belén Martin Bernabeu (piano) and Richard Veenstra (laptop).
