LIVING BOOKS
Living Books is interactive education by Bereslim. Childeren love to listen to stories. The digital picture books produced by Bereslim, help childeren to learn new words. Research has shown that childeren learn up to 5, 6 words in half an hour using these animated picture books while 2, 3 words a day is normal.
The picturebooks are animated by computer with the original scans, narrated and fitted with music and soundeffects. The living books were directed by John Croezen. Wouter van der Wal composed music for the latest five animated picturebooks; which are:
- Kleine Muis Zoekt een Huis (A New House for Mouse)
- Eend Ziet wat jij Niet Ziet
- Balotje op Vakantie
- Kleine Ezel en Jarige Jakkie (Little Donkey and the Birthday Present)
- Bentje en de Bruine Beer (Brave Bitsy and the Bear)
The music was recorded with live instruments in the recording setting that was most suitable. Most of the recordings were based on ensemble playing. Wouter gave every book it's own musical identity by choice of instruments and arrangement. He used a different variety of instruments, from banjo to bass-clarinet. Living Books are broadcast on the Dutch Public Television.
