COMPOSING THE SPACE '06

This project took place on the 'Culturele Zondag' ('Cultural Sunday') and has been performed on the 25th of March in the new university library in Utrecht. The title of the work Wouter composed for this occasion is 'Staircase'; a quartet written for 2 woodwind players and 2 brass players: Flute, Oboe, Trumpet, and Trombone.

The composition was situated in the main hall of the library, where stairs bring you to the other floors. The open structure of this 'staircase' was used to position the players on different stairs and floors, and let them walk the stairs while playing. This way, the hall was filled with sound.
