BRAGI

Bragi is a Symphonic Student Orchestra. This orchestra is settled in Groningen in the north of the Netherlands. The year 2007 Bragi celebrates an anniversary for it's 125th birthday. It was founded in 1882. For this occasion Remko Nieuwman and Wouter van der Wal wrote the piece "Le Matin de l'Étonnement".

This work has three movements:

I. Réveill,
II. l'Étonnement,
III. Ouvert.

The composers created a work with a program- matic nature. It's the journey from waking up in the morning untill the moment you step out the door into the day. The composers chose not to make a style-copy but to write with the mentality of some composers from that period.

"Le Matin de l'Étonnement" was performed the 26th of May at the 1st Dutch Student Musicfestival at the Oosterpoort.
