BLIND DATE
Blind Date is a project from the Utrecht Graduate School of Music, Codarts Dance Academy Rotterdam, and Art Academy Minerva Groningen. Four teams consisting of a composer, choreographer and a scenographer are put together to make a work of art.
Together with Eugenia Demeglio (choreographer) and Yotka Kroeze (scenographer), Wouter van der Wal created a living installation named 'Loose Cannon on Deck'. This piece is about 7 different cells with their own story. Every cell is a combination of an object, dancers, and sound.
Loose Cannon on Deck is about interaction, confrontation, and tranformation. The audience is responsible for certain changes in the performance.
Little pieces of music, which develop in time, are the base for the musical composition. Seven layers of music are sent to 7 different speakers, spread out over the installation. The on and off switching of the cells and layers, by actions of the audience, create the music being played at the performance
The first performance of 'Loose Canon on Deck' took place in the Theaterzaal at the Codarts Dance Academy in Rotterdam.
